MORE ESSENTIAL
THAN A SYNAGOGUE

The Mikvah is one of the most important and
vital institutions for any community.

For thousands of years, Jews have turned to the Mikvah for renewal and purification. The practices involved in the mitzvah of Taharat Hamishpacha, family purity, add unmatched dimensions of sanctity, holiness, and unity to the marital relationship.

Being that water is the primary source of all living things, it has the power to restore and replenish life. Symbolically, immersion in the mikvah is like a return to the womb, and immersion represents a spiritual rebirth.

By immersing in the Mikvah, a woman links herself to an ongoing tradition that has spanned generations, to Jewish women around the world and throughout time.

With the purchase of a new complex in Viera, Chabad has already broken ground on a state-of-the-art Mikvah, providing Jewish women and families with the sacred space to nurture and grow their homes.

Our new, pristine, fully-modern Mikvah facilities will combine practical beauty with innate spirituality, allowing for an experience that is relaxing, rejuvenating and uplifting. The Mikvah opens a connection to eternal Jewish spirituality, and gives the gift of purity and transcendence to the individual, the community and the Jewish people as a whole.

the
need

SOME 7,500 JEWS LIVE IN BREVARD AND INDIAN RIVER COUNTIES WITHOUT A LOCAL MIKVAH.

Presently the closest Mikvah is a distance of 90 miles to the north or some 120 miles south, making its practice extremely difficult for the local Jewish women.

The new Mikvah will service the Jewish community of Brevard and Indian River counties and will provide Jewish women a first time opportunity to observe the mitzvah of Taharat Hamishpacha, family purity, within a reasonable distance from their homes.

phase one
Study and Purchase

We purchased a ground floor apartment with the intention of building a Mikvah there. There were many setbacks, and challenges, but after numerous meetings and tests with engineers, architects, and community members, the actual Mikvah planning finally took off in April of 2022.

phase two
Design and Approvals

In April of 2022, along with architects and designers, we began to map out our dream of a spa-like Mikvah. At the same time, we worked with the city to receive zoning and initial building approvals. In the summer of 2023, work finally began in earnest to break ground, and in January of 24, the helical piles or foundations were set into place, and final construction plans were then approved.

Construction and Dedication

In April of 2024, we launched our building campaign to build this once in a lifetime, integral space. Simultaneously, we started construction of the space, and we look forward to support from the community and beyond so that we can expedite this project that will affect generations to come in Hudson County and beyond.
